Anti-Gun Propaganda and Controlling
Violent Crime
Interesting factoid:
The USA's Gun Control Act of 1968 is taken,
nearly word-for-word, from the Nazi's Gun Control Law of
1938.
I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the
freedom of the people by the gradual and silent encroachments of those
in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations.
-- James Madison (1751-1836), 6 June 1788, in the Virginia
Convention on the ratification of the Constitution, in "Debates in the
Several State Conventions on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution,"
Jonathan Elliot, ed., v.3 p.87, Philadelphia, 1836.
I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection
of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my
stand.
-- Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906)

Introduction
This is a position paper I wrote for a speech class. I realize
it covers an emotionally loaded topic, and I don't expect everyone to
agree with it. A bit of background information: the footnotes are, in
my admittedly biased opinion, well worth reading, as I included some
information that came my way after the paper was handed in. Also, they
include commentary from my professor, and my responses to her
comments.
I have yet to scan the pictures in, unfortunately, although I have
managed to put in graphs finally, thank goodness.
