Collie did outstanding work in this large lecture course in Cultures
of India. She attended most of the lectures and often asked very good
questions. She was also active in her discussion section.
Collie's mid-term essay was an excellent discussion on women's
situation in India. She made very thoughtful comments on the texts we
had discussed in the class. Her final paper, "Indian women, Religion,
and Society," also continued her study of Indian women. It provided an
excellent overview of women's position in Hindu society as constructed
through their involvement in religion. It was clearly written and well
organized.
