Collie's Musings

The stuff here is just speculations on my part. Some of them aren't particularly politically correct; some of them are pretty harmless... they're all based on life experience and personal thoughts. Here's what I've written so far. I'll probably have more as they occur to me.

A very few of my musings have some "raw" language in them. I have placed a "NOTE TO READERS" alert in the introductory paragraph of those pages. Please consider yourself warned accordingly.

It seemed like a good idea at the time... ;-)

Collie

Some comments on dealing with disasters that are far away, and how one might help despite the distance.

My responses to an email sent out to a mailing list, concerning patriotism, after the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.

My answer to the following question from a friend: "[F]eel free to ramble: what do you feel are important hidden issues to consider when considering cohabiting with a sweetie?"

Some inner revelations and shared thoughts regarding the importance of personal goals in one's life.

Part of a zine, and the very short bit of commentary to a net-friend that inspired it, concerning my distaste for absolute moral values based on double standards.

A very short Wired article, and my comments on the influence of pop culture and the media.

My thoughts on ethnocentrism, and how we assume our personal experience is the sum total of the world... and how our lack of experience in certain areas of life can harm those around us.

A response to a net acquaintance discussing the somewhat widespread belief that men can't be friends with women they wanted to sleep with.

Some thoughts on shame, as inspired by a comment read at the end of a 100 day, web-journal-based project done by someone else.
