Consumer Reports spent two months exploring and evaluating the myriad medical information sites on the Web, and has concluded, "The wealth of useful medical information available online is well worth the initial difficulty of finding one's way around this new world -- and the constant need to be on guard against dubious material." Their recommendations?

• Medscape
• OncoLink at the University of Pensylvania Cancer Center

Also recommended are two sites that offer links to other sites:

• The Hardin MetaDirectory of Internet Health Resources (under "Popular Resources")
• Medical Matrix (Now requires free registration so they can collect "aggregate demographic information.")

Oh, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
