Bell Curves

At the core of the Hero System Rules (HSR) is the mathematics of the bell curve associated with the 3d6 roll. All combat, all skill use, etc. is affected by how often which numbers appear when 3d6 is rolled.

If you're going to run a Hero System game (or any other game based on the 3d6 roll) you should understand some the basics of how dice are used to generate numbers in the game, how often a specific number can be expected to appear, and how to use that knowledge to let your players know how often they can expect their chracter to succeed at a specific task in the game.

We're going to start at the very beginning with 1d6, so I can demonstrate some of the concepts without too much math.
